Prerequisites - None, though prior sailing or boating experience is an asset.

The goal of this course is to safely introduce you to the cruising lifestyle. By the end of the 5 days you should feel like a confident and capable crew member on any sailboat up to 50'.
Many skills will be taught in a professional and calm environment, such as basic boat handling, sail trim, navigation and onboard safety.
You will gain an International Yacht Training certificate. This is the first step in becoming a certified recreational skipper and the ICC (International Certificate of Competency) allowing you to charter boats in exotic locations and take out club boats locally.

(Bareboat certificate included / if ICC certificate is required + $100)

Prerequisites - VHF Maritime Radio Operators certificate. 200nm logged and 10 days at sea.
A Coastal Navigation course is recommended (details upon inquiry)

At this level successful students will gain the IYT International Bareboat Skipper & ICC standard. The main goal of the course is for students to feel confident enough to skipper A boat themselves. The ICC (International Certificate of Competency) is needed to charter boats in destinations such as the Caribbean or Mediterranean. A few of the key skills covered are as follows:

Advanced boat handling under power and sail
Safe docking techniques
Anchoring and picking up a mooring
Passage planning and Navigation
Understanding Weather and Tides
Safety checks and understanding boat systems
Enhancing the joys of the cruising lifestyle

A typical itinerary is:
Day 1: Squamish to Gibsons
Day 2: Gibsons to Smugglers cove marine park
Day 3: Smugglers cove to Jedediah Island
Day 4: Jedediah Island to Lasqueti Island
Day 5: Lasqueti Island to Newcastle Island marine Park
Day 6: Newcastle Island to Squamish

Alternative itinerary:
Cruise to a destination such as Powell River, Nanaimo or Victoria and make your own way back.

3 DAY HOWE SOUND CRUISE
The Howe Sound is a beautiful area to spend a few days cruising. It is the southernmost fjord on the continent and offers: Mountainous scenery, reliable winds & a choice of remote or cute & touristy Islands to visit.
Mixed groups of up to 3: $1025 per person

What's Included:
2 Nights' accommodation on board
1 Night spent in a Marina with shower facilities, the other night at anchor
Healthy & plentiful Food for 3 days, minus one dinner if we eat out
Hands on sailing experience and guided instruction if you wish
Use of pfd's (lifejackets) and all necessary safety equipment
Use of paddle board and dingy
Opportunities for swimming, hiking & site seeing
Sailing in the Howe Sound often provides great winds yet relatively small waves = excellent conditions :)
We normally venture into the Strait of Georgia for a small taste of open water sailing

Multi day Adventure Cruises
For people looking to enjoy cruising without the stress of gaining a certificate.
The experienced gained and skills learnt from this type of cruise, may be used towards a certification course in the future.
For individuals joining a group, pricing is the same as the IYT Crew course 5 day liveaboard rate.
For private groups of up to 4 the pricing is: $1040 per day for up to 4 days then $865 per day thereafter.
Including Food, Accommodation, Fuel, Marinas and the Skipper!
Itineraries are flexible and weather dependent.
Up to 3 days we stay in the Howe Sound
4 plus days we cruise to the gulf islands or desolations sound
Jedediah & Lasqueti Islands are some of our favorite destinations :)

To increase the range of places we can visit, it is possible to arrange a point-to-point cruise.
This usually starts or finishes in Squamish and the other destination can be your choice.
